March 2025 Newsletter
The holidays have come and gone. And the cold winter weather has given way to warmer winds. Change is upon us. Spring is upon us! With spring comes a renewed sense of life. And life must be celebrated! So, we are announcing that on May 1st we will hold the second annual Soul’s Harbor Spring Celebration at Gilley’s located in the Cedars neighborhood just south of downtown Dallas. We will be raising funds for our Capital Improvement Campaign, which will help us to renovate and expand at our current campus. The Spring Celebration will include festivities such as a live band (The Collective), a silent auction, wonderful food, and our esteemed guest speaker Sarah Hepola. Sarah is a bestselling author and Dallas Morning News journalist. We will profile her in greater detail for next month’s newsletter. For more details on the Spring Celebration, like how to reserve a seat ($200 per seat) or become a sponsor (as low as $2,000).We hope to see you there!
Our Very Old Pipes...
As mentioned in the spring fund raiser, our campus needs renovation, especially since we are almost 70 years young and still at the original location. A huge problem we face is the necessary maintenance and replacement of the utilities that service the main Soul’s Harbor campus. Such as servicing of the water main. Instead of calling a plumber, we utilized our “in house” talent pool. We value each man’s God given gifts and abilities. We were blessed to have several men step up and offer their services to fix the broken pipe. This saved us a great deal of money! It’s amazing the things we can do when we work together! When we serve a purpose greater than ourselves, we feel better about ourselves. The better we feel about ourselves, the closer we are to God. The closer we are to God, the easier it is to see the path He has lit for our journey, a path toward recovery.
May God bless us all!
