June 2017 Newsletter
Our Assistant Director, Reggie Finch, was featured in a 15-minute segment on Fox’s “In the Moment” TV show. The story detailed Reggie’s rise on the gridiron to his fall into homelessness because of his drinking and drugging. But the story does not end there. 7 Years ago Reggie walked into the doors of Soul’s Harbor with nothing on him, except the clothes on his back. He has turned his life around because of Soul’s Harbor. If you miss the video, we inserted the 15-minute segment on the bottom of our home page at www.soulsharbordallas.org. Thank you, Fox News for putting this heartwarming show together.
Each month at Soul’s Harbor, we celebrate two types of birthdays – regular (or “belly button”) birthdays and sobriety birthdays. We invite former residents who have annual sobriety birthdays to attend. Last month, we were honored to have four former residents celebrate their sobriety birthdays. From top left and going clockwise is Eric (2 years), Damon (3 years), Kevin (on the left with 3 years) and Jamey (2 years). Our Recovery Manager, DeWayne, is with Kevin in the bottom right photograph. Their drugs of choice were heroin for 2 of the guys, crack cocaine and crystal meth. Each one of the guys said that their biggest blessing was being reunited with their family. Thank you to all the four guys for coming out and sharing their experience, strength, and hope. This is a real live testament of how well Soul’s Harbor Holistic Program is working.
Soul’s Harbor homeless shelter is supported solely by our four thrift stores. You can donate your household items via phone (972-286-1940) or our “Household Donation Request Form” page. We also take automobiles “Vehicle Donation Request Form“. So if you have old clothes, furniture, appliances, household items, or even a car to donate to Soul’s Harbor, either fill out our online form or call our dispatch office at 972-286-1940. Our dispatch office is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are sustained solely through our four thrift store sales. We rely on your donated items to support our shelter. At Soul’s Harbor, we would like to thank all our customers that donate their items and also our thrift store customers. Because without our customers, there would be no Soul’s Harbor.
Thank you and God Bless.
